Indian economy is jeopardized off late and there is no clue will it show any improvement or not. It’s just been the first few months of this financial year and economy is already in a deep soup. It’s difficult to come up with assumptions for future. There are various factors that have brought about such difficulties that are listed below.

Inflation
This is considered as the biggest failure of the UPA government that is the inability to maintain a balance in the economy. There has been rise in food prices as the wholesale price index has been raised higher then it was five years back. It has worse impact on the poor who spend more than half of their income on the purchase of food items. This hike in food price has immensely affected the poor and has eroded the incomes of the middle class families as well, thus bridging further gap between the haves and the have-nots. This gap may give rise to social tensions. Mostly the price of vegetables, fruits and milk and dairy products have risen producing a cut on the household savings and has reduced the demand for consumer durables and industrial products.

'Art Works' from Kannur Central Prison

CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said the portraits and photographs pasted on the walls of the Kannur central jail are works of art by the prisoners. "There are many works of art done by the prisoners on the walls of the jail, including that of gods and goddesses, apart from political leaders," he told the media after visiting the Kannur central jail along with CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan, on Friday. "Since home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan visited only a few blocks, during his visit on May 21, he did not see the portraits of other political party leaders, including some of the leaders of his own party," commented Pinarayi.

Petrol Price Rollback

The Rs 2 per litre rollback in petrol price on Saturday brought some cheer to citizens. Many said the government must initiate more steps to control the price so that common people would not face the heat.
Citizens were displeased when the Union government on May 23 announced a rise of Rs 7.50 in the price of petrol. The hike, which was the steepest in recent years, had increased monthly spending on fuel. Besides citizens, local units of all major political parties had conducted protests in the city on Thursday to condemn the increase in fuel price.
That’s the joke going around on social network sites. As the rupee continues to see-saw, this hike is certain to burn a hole in the Aam Aadmis pocket.
